Richard is a psychotherapist and Tai Chi teacher. He has given many of these workshops in the States and throughout Europe. He is once again looking forward to sharing this contemporary method of spiritual awakening with us. Seeing Who You Really Are Richard's workshops open you directly to Who or What you really are -- your deepest and most wonderful identity. This is the discovery of inner freedom, unity and peace. "Seeing" is natural and easy to do - in fact it's less like doing and more like being. And once you have seen Who you really are, you can "see" anytime, anywhere. The world's great spiritual teachers and mystics speak about a Treasure that abides within each of us. Call this Treasure God, Buddha-Nature, Christ-Consciousness, Spirit, or whatever, it is your deepest Self. In his workshops Richard will present awareness exercises that point directly to the Treasure that is closer to us than breath. This is a contemporary method of spiritual awakening and is rightly acknowledged to be uniquely direct and accessible. It also makes sense in terms of our modern scientific view of the world. Richard has been "seeing" for 38 years. He has led these workshops throughout Europe, in the Far East, Australia, South Africa, the USA, Canada, Iceland, Russia, Puerto Rico and Brazil. His book, Seeing Who You Really Are, was published in the UK in 2003. Get Richard's Books
Seeing Who You Really Are --
The Awareness Exercises or Experiments These awareness exercises guide attention directly home to Who you really are. They rely purely and simply on relaxed attention - so anyone can do them. They reveal profound spiritual truths easily. They are also fun. They facilitate awareness of the indivisible spirit within, of the stillness at the heart of our lives, of the silence inside that is also peace, of the consciousness that unites us with all beings, of the source that is ceaselessly creative and trustworthy. These are practical tools that support and nourish this awareness in everyday life. After taking part in some insightful Headless experiments conducted by Richard at a recent workshop, one participant wrote: "I feel the ... workshop, my first, is still going on. Seeing just gets clearer and clearer. The remarkable thing for me since the workshop is the no confrontation aspect. The non-existent 'me' here has so obviously become space for the so-called 'other' there. Oneness really means one! Indivisible omnipresence." There is a growing network of friends in the world who are enjoying seeing Who they really are. When 'seers' are together it is essentially a non-verbal experience - I see that I have your face as my own, that you are within me. Seeing this doesn't have to involve words. At the same time, it's a pleasure to share our different views from this one indivisible Source. As we do so, we hear everyone's voice in this one awake Silence - we are capacity for one another, we become one another. This is a deep kind of love. And whether we are with friends or alone, the life of a 'seer' is a life of deeper and deeper trust and surrender. When you see Who is within you, then it makes sense to hand over to that One and let it live your life. Such a life of surrender is a great adventure. Seers see that their hands and legs, their voice and mind, in reality belong to the One - and as they attend to this reality, moment by moment, and honour Who they really are, they discover what the One within them gets up to through them! It's often not what you would expect. Right now the One within me is writing to the One within you, about being One and many! If you would like to trade faces in August at Gurukula, then I would love that too. Weekday Evening Talks

Background to Richard's Seeing Workshops.
The upcoming workshop in Fremantle will be a contemporary investigation of the question Who am I? and shows that you can see Who you really are here and now. It provides simple but deep awareness exercises that direct you to this Seeing within yourself.
The purpose of life is to see
Seeing is the only truth, there is nothing else
What I call perfection of seeing is not seeing others but oneself.
The aspects of things that are most important for us
The foolish reject what they see, not what they think; the wise reject what they think, not what they see. Observe things as they are and don't pay attention to other people.
The quotations above seem to be pointing at some state of being which, according to the authors, is both fundamental and at hand. It is also widely believed that awakening to what we really are is difficult and can only come about through extensive meditation, severe religious discipline, personal crisis or divine grace. The workshop is designed to provide a more immediate alternative. It involves a series of experiments designed to demonstrate the accessibility and obviousness of this assumedly obscure area. The experiments are usually followed by an open discussion of the results. We call them Seeing workshops because the visual sense is often the most direct route. However, they are more accurately described as Apprehension workshops, as they involve an understanding that is revealed through all the senses, not just sight. |
