From March to May, 2008, American TV talk show host, Oprah Winfrey, conducted a series of ten live Webcasts with Vancouver-based spiritual teacher Eckhart Tolle, discussing, week by week, a chapter of his latest book, A New Earth: Awakening to Your Life's Purpose.

Oprah has said certain teachings from The Power of Now seem handpicked for her, such as: "Wherever you are, be there totally." And: "I have to choose to surrender to this process and drop the negativity. I just have to let go."
Was Eckhart referring to people like Oprah when he wrote in A New Earth? ...
"In a world of role-playing personalities, those few people who don't project a mind-made image -- and there are some even on TV, in the media, and the business world -- but function from the deeper core of their Being, those who do not attempt to appear more than they are but are simply themselves, stand out as remarkable and are the only ones who truly make a difference in this world."
"They are the bringers of the new consciousness. Whatever they do becomes empowered because it is in alignment with the purpose of the whole. Their influence, however, goes far beyond what they do, far beyond their function. Their mere presence -- simple, natural, unassuming -- has a transformational effect on whoever they come into contact with."
The Webcasts turned out to be a phenomenonal success. Oprah.com reported that by the beginning of March, 450,000 people from around the world had registered which was a world record for Webcasting. Over 700,000 logged on to class 2. By class 5, 11 million people had accessed or downloaded the Webcast files! After the series concluded, it is estimated that the Webcasts would be seen or heard by more than 20 million people around the world!
The vast majority of viewers found these Webcasts a helpful and enriching experience in many ways, but, given the extraordinary reach of these programs, it was bound to ruffle some feathers. It was noticed, for instance, that a number of fundamentalist Christians had problems with Eckhart's teaching, or perhaps it was with coming to grips with their own shallow grasp of what Jesus really taught.
Some of these fundamentalists have gone so far as to accuse Eckhart of being "satanic" or the "antichrist" WOW, but that should not be surprising. It would be laughable if it were not such a sad reflection on the unconsciousness of these 'religious' critics.

And this fundamentalist claims on YouTube that Oprah was host to Antichrist!
In case you're wondering, the Antichrist is consiered by believers to be the prodigious tyrant of the last days, the arch-enemy of Christ. It was a notion that combined Persian dualism with Judeo-Christian apocalypse. Antichrist first appeared in Revelation as the pseudo-messiah ‘who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped…. And it was given unto him to make war with the saints, and to overcome them: and power was given to him over all kindreds, and tongues, and nations.’ In the Middle Ages, however, he was portrayed not only as a world tyrant but also as an airborne beast with a huge head, flaming eyes, ass's ears, and iron teeth.
The truth is, that Eckhart is one of the meekest people alive today. The meek are the egoless. They are those who have awakened to their essential true nature as consciousness and recognize that essence in all "others," all life-forms. They live in the surrendered state and so feel their oneness with the whole and the Source. They embody the awakened consciousness that is changing all aspects of life on our planet.

About Eckhart Tolle

An Invitation From Eckhart
“Why write another book?” a friend of mine commented when I told him I had just started writing A New Earth. "What else can you possibly say that you haven’t said already in The Power of Now?"
I could see his point. Countless people from all over the globe had been writing in to tell me that reading The Power of Now had been a life changing experience for them. So why was I writing another book?
The process began in the same way as it had done with The Power of Now: a strong sense that there was a book that wanted to be written. It felt almost as if the book already existed in the unmanifested realm and wanted me to bring it into this world. Many times in my life it has been my experience that the most powerful starting point for any endeavor is not the question what do I want, but what does Life (God, Consciousness) want from me? How do I serve the whole?
Already in the early stages of writing A New Earth I realized that, although the same essential truth was being expressed (or rather pointed to) as in The Power of Now, this truth was being approached in a very different way. It was pointed to through narrative rather than dialogue, and although it was expressed powerfully, it was approached less forcefully, somewhat more gently.
And the teaching had been evolving. Some of the new perspectives and helpful pointers that had spontaneously arisen in hundreds of talks and teaching sessions I had given all over the world during the seven years after The Power of Now was first published, became incorporated into the new book.
But there was also an added sense of urgency, a realization that what the planet and humanity need most is a shift in consciousness, a spiritual awakening. Without it, we perpetuate the insanity of the past (which we can see most clearly in the history of the 20th century) or at best we only treat the symptoms of the disease, not the underlying cause. The disease, of course, is the collective dysfunction of the egoic mind.
Although The Power of Now reached far more people than I ever thought possible, I realized, even as I was writing A New Earth, that the new book would make the teaching, without diluting it, accessible to an even wider audience, including the many people who perhaps would not have dreamt of reading a spiritual book, but have within them an unrecognized longing for spiritual awakening.
With Oprah’s support and blessings, this wider audience is now being reached. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Oprah for her enormous contribution to the awakening of humanity and the arising of a new earth.
These Webcasts, now on DVD, are a course in self-exploration and awakening. It will help you see what the dysfunctional patterns are within yourself that create unnecessary conflict and suffering and prevent you from finding true fulfillment. Hopefully it will also help you access a dimension within yourself that perhaps you didn’t know existed or only caught glimpses of on rare occasions.
Don’t be trapped for the rest of your life within the narrow confines of your personal history and your conditioned personality and allow your life to be transformed from within, through the power of consciousness itself.
